After announcing his intentions to marry Marina, Lady Whistledown revealed in her gossip column that Marina was secretly expecting. The man of Penelope Featherington ( Nicola Coughlan)'s dreams has quite the scandal in season 1. The third book, An Offer From a Gentleman, focuses on Benedict's encounter with true love after meeting the mysterious Sophia Beckett. He makes another big appearance before Anthony and Simon's duel, demanding that his older brother make him his second. Later on, he meets Henry at his studio and begins creating art. Perhaps the second Bridgerton child's most notable moment in season 1 of the series came after he accidentally insulted artist Henry Granville ( Julian Ovenden) 's work.
